Besides farming, Harvest Moon: Back to Nature also lets you enjoy various other activities, such as fishing or mining ores for upgrade your tools and special items.

There are two mines in the game:

• Waterfall Mine – accessible all year round.
• Winter Mine – only accessible during Winter, when the lake freezes over.

Both mines have unique items, valuable ores, and even Power Berry or recipes to uncover. Let’s explore them in detail!

Waterfall Mine

Location: South of your farm, beside the Hot Spring.

• Accessible in all seasons.
• Time stops while inside.
• The mine has 10 randomly generated floors.
• Use a hoe to uncover the hidden staircase to proceed.
• Staircases never appear on the edge tiles and usually appear diagonally across from where you entered the current floor.
• To exit, simply climb the staircase on your current floor to be returned outside.

You can find ores, money bags, and even a randomly buried Power Berry.

Winter Mine

Location: Small island in the center of the lake at Mother’s Hill Base.
Accessible only in Winter, when the lake is frozen solid.

• Time stops while inside.
• The mine has 10 random floors, and a hidden underground lake on the lower floors where the legendary Catfish can be caught.
• Use a hoe to find the hidden staircase.
• As with Waterfall Mine, staircases do not spawn on edge tiles and usually appear diagonally across from your entry point.
