Spring

In Harvest Moon: Back to Nature, there are various festivals held in each season. Attending these events can increase your friendship with villagers, and some festivals even offer prizes or romantic moments with the girl you like.

You can attend a festival anytime during the listed time range. Most festivals end automatically at 6:00 PM, unless stated otherwise.

1. New Years Day

Date: Spring 1
Time: 6:00 PM – 7:50 PM
Location: Rose Square or Inn

Celebrate the start of the new year with the villagers.

Go to the Inn to drink with the adults. Drinking too much will make you pass out and trigger a short cutscene where you wake up in bed.
At Rose Square, you can mingle with younger villagers. Talk to the girls and invite one to dance. If her affection isn’t high enough, she will decline.

2. Goddess Festival

Date: Spring 8
Time: 10:00 AM – 2:50 PM
Location: Rose Square

The day before the festival, you can invite a girl with at least 15,000 affection points to be your partner.

Talking to villagers: +5 affection
Talking to any girl: +500 affection
If you attend with a girl and return home alone: +1,000 affection
If you go to her favorite spot after: +3,000 affection

3. Spring Thanksgiving

Date: Spring 14
Time: 6:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Location: Your Farm

Give desserts to girls to receive +1,000 affection.

You can only earn affection from the first dessert gift per girl.
No bonus for giving more than once.

4. Local Horse Race

Date: Spring 18
Time: 10:00 AM – 2:50 PM
Location: Rose Square

Watch three races or join if your horse is fully grown.

Talking to villagers: +5 affection each
Talking to girls: +500 affection each
Maximum bonus from chatting: +15 affection / +1,500 affection (girls)
If you win: +20 affection with villagers and +500 with each girl

5. Cooking Festival

Date: Spring 22
Time: 10:00 AM – 2:50 PM
Location: Rose Square

Bring any dish to enter. Relaxation Tea has a high chance of winning.

Talking to villagers: +5 affection each
Talking to girls: +500 affection each
Winning: +20 affection with villagers, +500 with girls

Summer

1. Opening Day

Date: Summer 1
Time: 10:00 AM – 2:50 PM
Location: Mineral Beach

Swimming festival.

Talking to villagers: +5 affection
Talking to girls: +500 affection
Winning for the first time: Power Berry
Winning: +20 affection (villagers), +500 affection (girls)

2. Chicken Festival

Date: Summer 7
Time: 10:00 AM – 2:50 PM
Location: Rose Square

Enter your chicken a day before. Winning chickens will lay Golden Eggs.

Higher heart level = better chance of winning.
Talking to villagers: +5 affection
Winning: +20 affection (villagers)

3. Tomato Festival

Date: Summer 12
Time: 10:00 AM – 2:50 PM
Location: Rose Square

Compete in a team tomato-throwing game.

Talking to villagers: +5 affection
Talking to girls: +500 affection
If your team wins: +20 affection (villagers), +500 affection (girls)
No affection bonus with teammates.

4. Cow Festival

Date: Summer 20
Time: 10:00 AM – 2:50 PM
Location: Yodel Ranch

Enter your cow a day before. Winning cows produce Milk G.

Higher heart level = better chance of winning.
Talking to villagers: +5 affection
Talking to girls: +500 affection
Winning: +20 affection (villagers), +500 affection (girls)

5. Fireworks Display

Date: Summer 24
Time: 6:00 PM – 7:50 PM
Location: Mineral Beach

Watch fireworks with any girl (or Kai may invite you).

Talking to villagers: +5 affection
Talking to girls: +500 affection
No extra affection with the one you watch with.

Fall

1. Music Festival

Date: Fall 3
Time: 6:00 PM – 6:50 PM
Location: Church

Participate by playing the ocarina or just watch.

Participation doesn’t affect affection.
Talking to villagers: +5 affection
Talking to girls: +500 affection

2. Harvest Festival

Date: Fall 9
Time: 10:00 AM – 2:50 PM
Location: Rose Square

Bring an ingredient to mix into a communal pot.

Talking to villagers: +5 affection
Talking to girls: +500 affection

3. Moon Viewing

Date: Fall 13
Time: 6:00 PM – 11:50 PM
Location: Mother’s Hill Summit

Spend time under the full moon with a girl who likes you enough.

No affection changes from this event.

4. Sheep festival

Date: Fall 21
Time: 10:00 AM – 2:50 PM
Location: Yodel Ranch

Enter your sheep a day before. Winning sheep produce Wool G.

Talking to villagers: +5 affection
Talking to girls: +500 affection
Winning: +20 affection (villagers)

Winter

1. Dog Race

Date: Winter 10
Time: 10:00 AM – 2:50 PM
Location: Rose Square

Talking to villagers: +5 affection
Talking to girls: +500 affection
Winning: +20 affection (villagers), +500 affection (girls)

2. Winter Thanksgiving

Date: Winter 14
Time: 6:00 AM, 8:00 AM, 10:00 AM, 1:00 PM, 3:00 PM
Location: Your House

Girls with at least a purple heart may visit to give chocolate.

Purple/Blue heart: Chocolate
Green to Red heart: Chocolate Cake
No affection gained during this event.

3. Star Night Festival

Date: Winter 24
Time: 6:00 PM – 7:50 PM
Location: Varies by Girl

Talk to a girl the day before. If she likes you enough, she’ll invite you to dinner.

If married, the dinner happens at home.
No affection gained during this event.

4. News Years Eve

Date: Winter 30
Time: 12:00 AM – 4:50 AM
Location: Mother’s Hill Summit

Watch the sunrise with the villagers to welcome the new year.
