Sheep are one of the most profitable animals you can raise on your farm. They produce Wool, which can be sold for a good amount of money. You can buy sheep from Barley’s Yodel Ranch.
If your sheep wins the Sheep Festival, it’ll start producing Golden Wool, which sells for a higher price than regular wool.
Growth Stages
Sheep go through three stages of growth:
- Lamb – Too young to produce anything.
- Adult – Ready to grow and produce wool.
Lamb
Lambs come from breeding adult sheep. A few days after the pregnancy is confirmed, the mama sheep will give birth to an adorable little lamb.
At this stage, you can’t shear the lamb yet. It takes about 15 days for it to grow into a full-grown sheep.
Adult Sheep
Adult sheep can be sheared for wool using a clipper. Their wool grows back every 7 days.
If you forget to feed your sheep for a day, the wool will take one extra day to grow back.
If your sheep wins the Sheep Festival, it will start producing Golden Wool permanently.
Breeding
Healthy adult sheep can be bred using a Miracle Potion, which you can buy from Yodel Ranch.
Once a sheep is pregnant, she can’t enter any festivals until after she gives birth. Just talk to her and brush her every day to keep her happy. After 21 days (counting from the first day of pregnancy), she’ll give birth to a lamb.
Lambs can’t produce wool, but their mom can be sheared again shortly after giving birth.
Daily Care
After you get your sheep, caring for it is pretty simple. Feed it, talk to it, and give it a brush once in a while.
To boost affection, interact with them every day and make sure they’re well-fed. If you plant grass in your field, you can let them out to graze when the weather’s nice. Make sure to bring them back inside if it looks like rain.
If you don’t feed your sheep, their wool growth will be delayed by a day.
Leaving sheep outside during bad weather can make them sick. Sick sheep won’t heal on their own, so you’ll need to buy Animal Medicine from Yodel Ranch. If you ignore them, they might die.
Feed
Just like cows, sheep eat Fodder, which is a type of dried grass. There are two ways to get it:
- Buy from Yodel Ranch (20 G per piece), or
- Grow your own by planting Grass Seeds from the Supermarket (500 G each).
Once the grass is fully grown, use your sickle to harvest it. One patch of grass gives one piece of fodder. The best part? The grass will grow back after a few days, so it’s cheaper than buying fodder every time.
You can also let your sheep graze outside if the weather’s good. If it’s raining and you run out of fodder, just cut some grass from your field and feed it to your animals.
Affection
Sheep start out with 10 affection points (AP) when you buy or breed them. The max is 255 AP, which equals 10 hearts (1 heart = 25 AP).
You can raise their affection by 4–5 AP per day by talking to them and feeding them. Brushing or shearing doesn’t increase affection.
If you take care of your sheep every day, it’ll take about 48 days to max out their affection. The more hearts they have, the better the wool they produce.
Here’s a chart showing how different actions affect affection:
| Action | AP Change |
|---|---|
| Talk to your sheep | +3 AP |
| Let them graze outside | +2 AP |
| Feed them in the barn | +1 AP |
| Hit them with a tool | -1 AP |
| Let a wild dog bark at them | -1 AP |
| Leave them outside with no grass | -9 AP |
| Don’t feed them inside the barn | -10 AP |
| Leave them outside during bad weather | -120 AP |
Products
Wool
Sheep grow wool every 7 days (as long as they’re healthy and well-fed). The size of the wool depends on how many hearts they have. If your sheep wins the festival, it’ll start producing Wool G (Golden Wool).
| Type | Requirement | Selling Price |
|---|---|---|
| Wool S | 1–3 Hearts | 100 G |
| Wool M | 4–7 Hearts | 400 G |
| Wool L | 8–10 Hearts | 500 G |
| Wool G | Festival Winner | 600 G |
Yarn Ball
Once you upgrade your Barn, you can ask Saibara to build a Yarn Maker for 20,000 G and 1 Adamantite Ore.
This machine turns your wool into yarn, which sells for more than the wool itself. The type of yarn depends on the size of the wool you use.
| Yarn Type | Requires | Selling Price |
|---|---|---|
| Yarn Ball S | Wool S | 300 G |
| Yarn Ball M | Wool M | 700 G |
| Yarn Ball L | Wool L | 800 G |
| Yarn Ball G | Wool G | 1,000 G |
