In Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town, building relationships with villagers, marriage candidates, sprites, and animals is an essential part of the game.
There are two key indicators used to measure your relationships in this game:
Friendship Points (FP)
These points indicate how friendly you are with a villager. You can track your current friendship with someone by the number of filled music notes next to their portrait in the Villager Relationship menu.
- Each music note represents 25 FP, with a maximum of 10 notes (250 FP).
- The highest possible FP with someone is 255.
Love Points (LP)
These points represent romantic affection and apply only to marriage candidates (and pets/livestock, in a different way). In the Villager Relationship menu, LP is indicated by hearts below the music notes.
- Each colored heart represents 10,000 LP, up to a maximum of 65,535 LP per candidate.
- Livestock and pets also have LP, shown in the Livestock and Pet Relationship menus. Each heart represents 25 LP, with a max of 255 LP per animal.
How to Increase FP and LP

There are several ways to boost your relationships with villagers:
Talking
Talking to someone daily gives:
- +1 FP and +200 LP (if LP applies)
- Kai gives +2 FP and +200 LP
Giving Gifts
Giving gifts is one of the most effective ways to build relationships. Gift preferences vary by character:

Giving a gift on someone’s birthday multiplies the gain by 5×.
For example, a liked gift on a birthday gives +2500 LP and +45 FP!
Wrapped gifts (available at the General Store for 100G) add +25% LP/FP to the base value. Stand on the right side of the General Store’s counter and press A to wrap your gift.
Participating in Festivals
Festivals are marked on the calendar and announced on TV. Some are casual town gatherings, while others are competitive or romantic.
- General Festivals:
- +5 FP with attendees
- +20 FP for winning contests
- Romantic Festivals (e.g. Valentine’s Day, Fireworks):
- +1000 or +2000 LP depending on the event
Note: Romance-related points are not earned during contest-style events, but friendship can still increase.
Heart Events & Random Events
Heart events for marriage candidates offer dialogue choices:
- A positive choice gives +2000 LP
- Random villager events can also raise friendship—but not always.
How to Increase Animal Affection
Interacting with livestock and pets also increases their affection:
- Talk to them, brush them, and let them outside for 5+ hours daily.
- Give Pet Treats to pets for additional affection gain.
How to Lose FP and LP

While you usually want to raise your relationships, some actions will lower FP/LP:

If you mess up, don’t worry—giving a better gift the next day can usually fix things quickly.

Some places in Mineral Town are locked until you build enough friendship:

Villager home doors open earlier and stay open later as friendship increases:

- Reopens 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM
- Manna (Aja Winery):
- ≥8 FP: Opens at 7:00 AM
- Store hours remain 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
- Doors stay open until 10:00 PM
