Church

Church is located in the northeast corner of Mineral Town, and it’s open daily from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. It’s run by Carter, a kind and thoughtful priest who is always willing to lend an ear, even if it’s just to listen to the worries of the townspeople.

Carter doesn’t sell any items, but he offers a free confession service in a special booth inside the church. This booth is locked when Carter isn’t present.

Confession Booth Hours

  • Open: Monday, Wednesday, and rainy days
  • Time: 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM

On sunny days, Carter is usually outside the church with Mei and Yu, but on rainy days, he stays inside the booth to “contemplate” — which might just be his polite way of saying he’s taking a nap.

Confession Options

When entering the booth, you’ll be given three choices of what to confess:

1. Remove a Cursed Tool

Cursed Tools can be found on specific floors of the Lake Mine. A tool becomes cursed when equipped as an active tool, preventing you from using other tools from your rucksack.

Carter can help in two ways:

  • Temporarily remove a cursed tool from your active slot: Costs 1,000 G
  • Permanently lift the curse to upgrade it into a Blessed Tool

How to permanently uncurse tools:

ToolMethod
Cursed Hoe & Watering CanPay Carter to bless the tool 5 times to remove the curse from the Cursed Hoe and Cursed Watering Can.
Cursed Sickle & HammerKeep the cursed tool equipped as your active tool for 5 straight days to remove the curse from the Cursed Sickle and Cursed Hammer.
Cursed Axe & Fishing PoleSwing the cursed tool 50 times to remove the curse from the Cursed Axe and Cursed Fishing Pole.

If you ask about cursed tools without owning any, Carter will simply warn you about their dangers. You can use Carter’s blessing service multiple times per day, as long as you pay the 1,000 G fee each time.

2. Confess Your Sins

You’ll be given one of three random sets of confessions, but you can only pick one confession per day.

Set 1

  • I don’t care for my animals
  • I worked myself to collapse
  • The townsfolks don’t like me

Set 2

  • I picked on an animal
  • I overslept
  • I littered on the road

Set 3

  • I hardly sleep
  • I overwork the Nature Sprites
  • I want to marry the Harvest Goddess
  • I want to marry Kappa

No matter which option you choose, Carter will give a response — sometimes supportive, sometimes gently judging — and may choose to forgive you.

Possible Benefits of Forgiveness:

ConfessionResult
Collapsing from exhaustion+10 Stamina recovery
Littering or being dislikedSlight Friendship boost with villagers (e.g., +5 FP, possibly more)
Neglecting animalsSlight Friendship boost with all your farm animals
“I want to marry…” (Set 3)Required step toward marrying Harvest Goddess or Kappa

The two options in Set 3 about marrying the Harvest Goddess or Kappa are part of the requirements for marrying them, so don’t skip those!
