Drinking Battle (Event)

As you enter the bar area of the Inn, you see Duke and Karen sitting together. Karen explains that Duke has racked up quite the tab at the general store, so they’ve agreed to settle the debt with a juice-drinking contest.

If Karen wins, Duke has to pay off his debt. But if Duke wins, his debt is considered canceled. Karen asks you to serve as a witness for their showdown.

  Karen insists that she’s serious about this.
• Positive response – “Sure thing.” (+3000 LP with Karen)
  With your agreement, they prepare to start the contest.

Duke ends up collapsing on the floor, while Karen laughs at his defeat. He never stood a chance. Before she stumbles home, Karen reminds him to settle his tab by the end of the day. Dudley then asks you to escort Duke home since he can’t leave the Inn, or he would’ve done it himself.

You walk Duke home, where Manna immediately starts yelling at him. He groans in pain from his stomachache as Manna says she already heard everything from you. Duke confirms the drinking contest and asks her what the outcome was.

Manna tells him he lost. Duke doesn’t seem too upset—Karen was a tough opponent. But that’s not the response Manna was expecting; now they’re stuck with the bill. She demands to know what exactly he bought at the general store in secret.

Duke says it was nothing important and insists he needs to keep his promise to Karen. Manna tells him she’ll take care of the debt herself.

She then tells him to apologize to you. After Duke reluctantly does so, Manna apologizes for her foolish husband’s behavior. Offended by her words, Duke starts arguing with Manna again, and the bickering continues.
