Just like in other Story of Seasons games, Friends of Mineral Town features various festivals every month. In Winter, there are five unique events you shouldn’t miss: Thomas’ Request, Valentine’s Day, Starlight Night, Thomas Claus, and New Year’s Eve.
Winter 2 – Thomas Request
This isn’t officially a festival or event, but it’s a special occurrence during Winter. Mayor Thomas will visit you at your front door, boasting that he’s been bragging to other mayors about how awesome Mineral Town is.
Now he needs you to prove it by finding a specific item and giving it to him that same evening when he returns to your farm.
- If you refuse, you’ll lose 10 FP with Thomas.
- If you accept, he’ll tell you the item he needs.
The requested item is randomly selected from the list below:
- AEPFE Apple
- Black Grass
- Bracelet
- Diamond
- Golden Egg
- Green Pepper
- Matsutake Mushroom
- Mochi
- Moonstone
- White Grass
If he asks for something you can’t get, reload your save—either from a manual save the night before or the morning auto-save—to reroll the requested item.
Thomas will return to your farm at 7:00 PM and wait until 8:00 PM. If you don’t give him the item, you’ll lose another 10 FP.
Give him the correct item from your backpack, and he’ll reward you with Gold Lumber. This rare material doesn’t rot and can be placed on your field.
If you try giving him a cooked dish or the wrong apple, he’ll scold you.
Gold Lumber no longer makes villagers jealous like in the original GBA version.
You can also buy Gold Lumber from Gotts for 100,000 G per piece.
Winter 14 – Valentine Day
On this day, girls will visit your farm to give you Chocolate or Orangette if their heart color is purple (10,000 LP) or higher.

- Talk to them to receive Chocolate.
- If their heart is yellow (40,000 LP) or more, they’ll give you Orangette instead.
- If it’s your first Orangette, you’ll also get one of seven special Rings (if you didn’t receive one on Spring 14).
If you’re married, your spouse will sneak a gift into your backpack while you sleep:
- Chocolate (green heart or less)
- Orangette (yellow heart or more)
- Make sure to leave a slot in your backpack!
You’ll also gain:
- +1000 LP with your spouse
- A Ring (if you haven’t gotten one yet)
Playing as a girl:
You can give Chocolate or Orangette to the bachelor candidates.
- Chocolate: +1000 LP, +20 FP
- Orangette: no extra LP, but still acceptable
- If married, giving Chocolate to your husband: +1000 LP, +20 FP
- Giving to other bachelors (after marriage): +20 FP (LP no longer applies)
Winter 23/24 – Starlight Night
If any candidate has green heart (30,000 LP / 4 hearts) or more, you’ll receive a visit from Thomas on Winter 23. He’ll deliver invitations from potential love interests to spend Winter 24 together.
You can read and choose one invite or skip the event.

Attend the gathering at 6:00 PM on Winter 24.
- You’ll have dinner and talk with your chosen candidate.
- Gain +2000 LP with them and +30 FP with other guests.
- The event ends the next morning.
If you choose Brandon, Cliff, Doctor, Gray, or Jennifer, and the party is held at your house, you’ll receive one of seven collectible Rings.
If you’re married, you’ll automatically spend the night with your spouse.
Note: Kai does not participate in this event unless you are married to him.
Winter 25 – Thomas Claus
This hidden event only triggers if you hang a stocking on your wall.
How to Get a Stocking
- Raise Ellen friendship to 8 notes (200 FP).
- Between Winter 1–23, give her yarn (any size or type) between 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM (except Wednesdays).
- She’ll knit a stocking, and you’ll return home by 6:00 PM to hang it.
Ellen’s favorite gifts: Honey, tree fruit, milk, wool, Hot Spring Egg.
The Gift
Sleep on Winter 25 between 9:00 PM – midnight, and Thomas Claus will sneak in to leave a present in the stocking!
Possible rewards:
- Alexandrite (very rare & valuable)
- Mithril
- Moonstone
- Orichalcum
- Sandrose
- Also gain +20 FP with Mayor Thomas
Winter 30 – New Year’s Eve
There are three different ways to celebrate the end of the year. You can only choose one each year:
Soba Feast
- Location: Rose Plaza
- Time: 6:00 PM – 12:00 AM
Join Carter, Duke, Gotts, Jeff, Manna, Ran, Sasha, and Thomas. Talk to Thomas to eat buckwheat noodles.
Rewards:
- 9 Buckwheat Flour (used in Zaru Soba, Tempura Soba)
- +5 FP with everyone you talk to
You can also win Buckwheat Flour via the Hi/Low TV game on Spring 1–5.
Party
- Location: Mother’s Hill
- Time: 12:00 AM – 4:00 AM
Climb Mother’s Hill between midnight and 4:00 AM to watch the year’s first sunrise with:
Talk to everyone to trigger the cutscene and earn +5 FP with each. The event ends at 6:00 AM the next morning.
Weird Dreams
Instead of attending a festival, go to bed and you might see a weird dream. This is random, so save your game beforehand if you want to retry for different dreams.
Possible dreams:
- Marrying Mayor Thomas – You’re about to kiss him… but wake up in time!
- Sprite Fusion – The Nature Sprites fuse into Bon Viviant!
- Battle with Karen – She becomes a villain and you duel at the beach while Marie begs you to stop.
You’ll wake up at 6:00 AM as if nothing happened. No LP/FP changes.
