Marriage

In Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town, you can choose to marry one of the eligible marriage candidates. There are two types: Normal Candidates and Special Candidates.

Normal vs Special Candidates

  • Normal Candidates: There are six eligible bachelorettes and six bachelors. You can marry any of them regardless of gender.
  • Special Candidates: These include the Harvest Goddess, Kappa, Bon Vivant, and Huang. They have unique requirements.

To marry a normal candidate, you simply need to raise their heart level and meet standard requirements. But for special candidates like the Harvest Goddess or Kappa, you must first confess your interest.

If you want to marry Kappa, the Harvest Goddess will one day ask you who your special someone is—choose Kappa. To marry the Goddess, choose Harvest Goddess. Be careful! This question only comes up once, and if you choose someone else, you won’t get a second chance.

Once selected, you must complete the candidate’s specific marriage conditions. See: [Harvest Goddess Guide] / [Kappa Guide].

Requirements for Marrying a Normal Candidate

  • Reach Red Heart level (60,000 LP)
  • View all heart events (Introduction + 5 Heart Events)
  • Upgrade your house to Large House
  • Purchase the Big Bed
  • Propose with a Blue Feather

Note: Spouses won’t help on the farm or give store discounts. They will move into your house after marriage and have the same parenting progression.

Special Candidates:

  • Harvest Goddess and Kappa won’t live with you after marriage.
  • Huang returns home at night.
  • Bon Vivant stays over during certain seasonal days.

Raising Love Points

All candidates have:

  • Friendship Points (FP): Music note icon
  • Love Points (LP): Heart icon (visible only for normal candidates)

To increase LP:

  • Give gifts daily
    • Favorite: +800 LP
    • Loved: +500 LP
    • Liked: +300 LP
    • Neutral: +100 LP
    • Disliked: Can lower LP
  • Talk to them: +200 LP daily
  • Wrap gifts at Jeff’s store (+small bonus)
  • Birthday gifts: x5 LP (up to +4000 LP)

If you don’t talk to a candidate for one day, there’s a 10% chance of losing 200 LP.

Special candidates have hidden LP, but gift-giving still works.

These special cutscenes occur when reaching specific LP milestones:

Purple Heart Event10,000+
Blue Heart Event20,000+
Green Heart Event30,000+
Yellow Heart Event40,000+
Orange Heart Event50,000+
  • Green Heart Event: Requires giving Preserved Flower
  • Yellow & Orange: Requires declaring your feelings

Positive choices during heart events: +3000 LP
Negative choices: -2000 LP
Multiple heart events can trigger in one day, but avoid using a horse between outdoor areas—it may prevent the cutscene.

Preserved Flower Event

Triggered after reaching Green Heart (30,000 LP) or automatically on Fall 1 of Year 1+.

Exit your house between 9:00 AM–5:00 PM on a sunny non-Sunday or Tuesday to trigger a cutscene with Jeff, Basil, and the Nature Sprites. You’ll find the Sunsweet Flower in the Secret Forest, which later becomes a Preserved Flower.

Three days later, Jeff will give you your first Preserved Flower. You can buy more from his store for 1,000 G each.

Giving the Preserved Flower

Give the Preserved Flower to a candidate with:

  • Green Heart level (30,000+ LP)
  • First four heart events viewed

It triggers a cutscene at your farmhouse and unlocks the final two heart events.

You can give the flower to all 12 normal candidates without penalty. There’s even an achievement for it!

Note: Special candidates do not use the Preserved Flower system.

House Upgrade

Before proposing, your house must be fully upgraded.

UpgradeCost
Medium House3,000 G + 150 Lumber + 50 Stone
Large House10,000 G + 600 Lumber + 250 Stone

Materials can be purchased at Gotts Workshop or collected using your tool Axe and Hammer.

Big Bed

After upgrading to a Large House, buy the Big Bed from Gotts for 10,000 G. It doesn’t require any materials and is needed for marriage.

Blue Feather

Appears at General Store (1,000 G) after:

  • Orange Heart event seen (normal candidate), or
  • Orange Heart reached (special candidate)

Only one can be bought. Marriage is permanent; there’s no divorce option.

Proposing

Once all requirements are met:

  1. Place the Blue Feather in your bag
  2. Show it to your chosen partner
    • For Kappa/Harvest Goddess: stand by the lake when using the feather

Tip: To collect all 7 Rings, delay marriage until after the Winter 24 festival. Some candidates only give rings during that event if you’re not yet married.

The Wedding

Takes place 7 days after your proposal. If it clashes with a festival, the wedding is postponed to the next day.

  • Normal candidates: Ceremony at the church with villagers attending
  • Special candidates: Ceremony with a limited audience

You’ll receive one of the 7 Rings on your wedding day.

Married Life

Marriage changes a few annual events:

  • Valentine’s Day (Winter 14) & White Day (Spring 14): Spouse gives chocolate/cake
  • Summer 24 Fireworks: Celebrate together
  • Moonlight Night (Autumn 13): Watch with spouse at Mother’s Hill
  • Pumpkin Jamboree (Autumn 30): Evening dessert event
  • Starlight Night (Winter 24): Romantic evening at home

You also get birthday celebrations! Enter your home between 6:00 PM and 12:00 AM. Answer your spouse’s question correctly for:

  • +3000 LP if correct
  • -2000 LP if wrong

The first time you celebrate a birthday together, you’ll get one of the 7 Rings.

Wedding Anniversary

Celebrated in the morning when you wake up. Correct answer = +3000 LP, incorrect = -2000 LP. Your spouse will also gift a rare gem (Amethyst, Diamond, Ruby, etc.).

50th Anniversary Bonus: Your spouse will give you a Mountain Cabin on Mother’s Hill. It includes one of the Truth Jewels inside!

Sick Spouse Event

If you don’t talk to your spouse for 10 days, on day 11, they’ll stay in bed sick. You’ll lose -2000 LP, but they’ll recover the next day.
