Farming in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life is one of the most enjoyable aspects of the game. You can plant various types of seasonal seeds, which are obtainable from the bulletin board requests or by purchasing them at Vesta’s Farm.
At first, you’ll need to spend a decent amount of money to buy seeds. However, once your crops are fully grown, you can sell them for profit. Thankfully, the game offers a way to make your own seeds for free using a tool called the Seed Maker.
There are two ways to obtain the Seed Maker:
- Buy it for 30,000 G from the ledger.
- Get it for free through a special event with Daryl.

How to Get the Seed Maker for Free
- Location: Daryl’s Laboratory

- You do not currently own a Seed Maker
- Daryl has 70 FP or more
The most important thing is not to miss this special event—this is your only chance to get a free Seed Maker.
To trigger the event, you must first befriend Daryl. Once he reaches 70 friendship points or more, visit his laboratory.
When you enter, a cutscene will play. Daryl appears frustrated about an invention. He explains that someone in the city is copying his Seed Maker and selling it.
Determined to prove his Seed Maker is the superior product, Daryl decides to give it to you for free. That way, the world will see your bountiful harvests and know they came from his invention.
If you agree, the scene transitions to your farm, and the Seed Maker will be placed beside your storage shed.
How to Befriend Daryl
The biggest challenge is getting Daryl to reach high enough friendship points to trigger the event. Here are some tips to build your friendship with him quickly and efficiently:

Daryl’s Schedule
While his full routine isn’t completely clear, you can usually find Daryl inside his laboratory between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM. Outside of that time, he often hangs out near the Forest Spring, close to the sprites’ home.
By giving him gifts he loves consistently for a few days, you’ll be able to trigger the event and receive your very own free Seed Maker.
