Friendship

Even though Forgotten Valley might look like a small village, it’s actually full of unique and friendly characters. As mentioned in our Character Guide, there are dozens of villagers you can meet and befriend.

Building relationships with them not only adds charm to your daily life, but it can also influence your child’s interests and skills. On top of that, many villagers will give you special gifts—like music records, clothing, and more—once your friendship with them grows strong.

This guide explains how the friendship system works, including Bulletin Board requests and tips to get closer to everyone in town.

How to Make Friends

1. Talk to Villagers Regularly

Simply chatting with villagers every day helps you build friendships over time. Consistency is key.

2. Sell with a Discount at Van’s Shop

If you’ve opened a shop at Van’s and a villager stops by, you can offer them a 10% discount on anything they want to buy.

This gives a small boost to Friendship Points (FP), so use this chance if you have cool or rare items for sale.

3. Give Daily Gifts

Giving gifts is the most effective and common way to increase friendship.

  • Each gift is categorized as:
    • Favorite
    • Liked
    • Disliked

Check out our Gift Preferences Guide to learn each villager’s favorite items.

You can give multiple gifts per day, as long as the items fall into different categories.
For example:

  • Gift 1: Flower (Liked)
  • Gift 2: Egg Soup (Favorite)

This trick helps you earn friendship points faster—especially helpful if you’re focusing on marriage candidates.

Getting Gifts from Villagers

Once you’ve built a strong friendship, villagers will begin giving you special items.
Here are a few examples:

VillagerGift
VinnieHybrid or rare crops
ChrisMusic records
OthersClothing, tool upgrades, and more

Most gifts are given when your friendship is maxed out, which takes several seasons or even years of in-game time. However, Bulletin Board requests offer a quicker way to earn rewards.

Bulletin Board Requests

Sometimes villagers will post special requests on the Bulletin Board outside your house.
These requests can earn you unique items like:

  • Alarm Clock
  • Toy Beach Ball
  • Books
  • Other rare or exclusive items

Notes:

  • Special requests are marked with flowery paper.
  • Some have long deadlines, and others have no deadline at all.
  • Items requested can be hard to find, but the rewards can’t be bought or received elsewhere—so they’re worth the effort.

Completing these requests also increases your friendship with the villager who posted it.

Summary

Making friends in SoS: A Wonderful Life is fun, rewarding, and makes your journey in Forgotten Valley feel even more meaningful.

Whether it’s giving gifts, chatting daily, or fulfilling special requests, every interaction brings you closer to your neighbors—and closer to amazing rewards!
