Vinnie is a talkative vine plant living inside Takakura’s house. He’s extremely curious and loves to chat. Becoming friends with Vinnie can unlock a valuable farming feature — hybrid crops.
How to Unlock
Vinnie appears in Year 2. If you’ve been working hard on your farm, Takakura will eventually call you into his house and introduce this strange three-headed plant.
Takakura explains that someone slipped a mysterious seed into his pocket while he was in town. He planted it… and Vinnie was born.
Takakura will then ask for your opinion on Vinnie. Your choice affects your starting friendship:

| Say he’s weird | Friendship resets to the lowest level |
Either way, Vinnie will stay in the house, so it’s best to accept him right away.
Befriending Vinnie
Vinnie doesn’t accept gifts, but you can talk to him multiple times per day to raise your friendship level. He’s the only character in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life whose friendship decreases if ignored.
Keep talking to him daily until he starts offering to mix crops.
How to Create Hybrid Crops
Vinnie will only offer the hybrid crop feature once your friendship is high enough — usually when the heart meter turns red.
To start mixing crops:
- Talk to Vinnie.
- When the option appears, choose “I’d like to mix some crops.”
- He’ll ask you to submit two different crops (fruits or vegetables).
- Vinnie will then attempt to combine them into a hybrid.
