If you want to raise livestock in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life, Fodder is essential to keep your animals healthy and productive.
Fodder is the main feed for animals kept in the Barn. It functions as hay and keeps your animals nourished, which is crucial for maintaining their mood and product output.
Each animal type requires a different amount of feed per day, so it’s important to keep the feed troughs full to avoid underfeeding.
Animals that are left hungry will become unhappy, and unhappy animals will produce low-quality products—or may eventually die. Prevent this by providing enough food daily.
How to Get Fodder

When you first start the game, Takakura will introduce you to your first livestock: a Normal Cow (female), which lives in your Barn.
After naming the cow and learning how to milk it, you’ll also need to start feeding your livestock properly.
- All cows require 2 units of fodder per day.
- Sheep and goats need only 1 unit of fodder per day.
You can obtain fodder in two main ways: growing grass or purchasing it.
Growing Grass for Fodder

The first option is to grow grass on your pasture using Fertilizer.
- Buy Fertilizer from Vesta’s Farm.
- Use it on your pasture plot like you would with seeds.
- Over time, the fertilizer will grow into grazeable grass that animals can eat when taken outside.
However, you can also cut the grass using a Sickle to convert it into Fodder.
- After cutting, Fodder will be automatically stored in the Silo located inside the barn (right side, near the door leading outside to the pasture).
- You can collect fodder from the silo and place it in the feeding troughs.
Buying Fodder

If you’d rather focus on farming or other tasks, you can buy fodder directly from town.
- Open the Ledger.
- Choose “Can Order” → Fodder.
- Each unit of fodder costs 20 G.
Like all other ordered items, your purchased fodder will be delivered to the Deposit Box the next day.
You can either store it in the Barn silo or keep it in your inventory to feed animals manually.
