Processing Room

Livestock are already a valuable investment, but in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life, the Processing Room is just as important.

This facility allows you to turn cow milk and goat milk into higher-value items such as cheese and butter.

Though it’s a costly upgrade, the money you spend on building the Processing Room will be recouped quickly—since Cheese and Butter sell for significantly more than raw Milk.

In this guide, we’ll explain how to obtain the Processing Room, how to use it, and the sale prices of each processed product.

How to Get the Processing Room

ou can purchase the Processing Room via the Ledger for 150,000 G. Once ordered, Takakura will begin construction.

After a few days, Takakura will notify you that the Processing Room is ready. He will then give you a tour of the room, pointing out two machines:

  • Yellow machine: Used to process milk into Cheese.
  • Gray machine: Used to process milk into Butter.

How to Make Cheese and Butter

To make Cheese or Butter, simply take milk from your bag, approach the correct machine, and press the action button.

You’ll be prompted to choose how many items you want to make. Although the game treats each type and grade of milk as separate items, you can still bulk-process them by selecting the quantity in your bag.

You can then switch to a different type of milk and use the machine again to process additional items.

Milk Types and Optimization

In addition to Normal Cow, you can also purchase Marble Cow, Brown Cow, and Star Cow from the Ledger. Each produces a unique type of milk:

Cow TypeMilk Produced
Normal CowMilk
Brown CowBrown Milk
Marble CowMarble Milk
Star CowStar Milk

These special milks can result in higher-quality Cheese or Butter, depending on which milk is used in the appropriate machine:

  • Brown Milk produces higher-quality Butter.
  • Marble Milk produces higher-quality Cheese.

For example:

  • Brown Milk (B) → Butter (A)
  • Marble Milk (B) → Cheese (A)

But if used in the “wrong” machine, the product retains the same grade:

  • Brown Milk (B) → Cheese (B)
  • Marble Milk (B) → Butter (B)

So always match the milk to its optimal product for the best profit.

Don’t Use Star Milk for Processing

Although processing milk usually increases its value, Star Milk is an exception.

Even at its lowest grade, Star Milk (B) sells for 325 G per bottle. If you process it into cheese or butter, it will only yield Cheese (B) or Butter (B), which sell for much less:

  • Cheese (B) = 205 G
  • Butter (B) = 190 G

So it’s always better to sell Star Milk directly, and use other milk types for processing instead.

Goat Milk

If you buy a Goat from Van during Spring (3rd–8th), you can collect Goat Milk for one year.

Although Goat Milk already sells at a good price, you can also process it in the Processing Room to get:

  • Goat Cheese
  • Goat Butter

Unlike Star Milk, processed Goat Milk does increase in value, making it a great choice for maximizing profits.
