You find Daryl chuckling to himself. He seems unusually pleased with something. As you approach to investigate, Daryl turns to you and asks what you want.

You are given a choice:

• 1A: “Oh, nothing really.”

Daryl tells you to leave. He’s about to begin an experiment that could advance his research and doesn’t want any distractions. You turn around and leave the lab.

• 1B: “What’s got you so excited?

Daryl explains he’s currently studying lightning. He believes he can harness lightning to power the entire valley for an entire year! But first, he needs to try a small-scale experiment—one that could store enough energy for a month.

He shows you a metal box and explains it’s a power unit he’s going to test. You can be a witness to this trial. He flips the switch. The unit flickers and flashes.

Daryl exclaims with excitement, thinking it’s successfully gathering power and storing it in the device beneath the lab—until a huge explosion occurs.

The breaker flips, and all the lights in the lab go out. After some fumbling, Daryl restores the lighting and grumbles. He’ll need to make some adjustments if he wants his experiment to work next time.
